Assistant Instructor Erica Alire

Assistant Instructor Erica Alire began studying martial arts at Shin's Martial Arts Institute when she was 8 years old. Originally, her parents enrolled her in class to expose her to self-defense, and believed that the confidence and discipline that often result from martial arts practice would be beneficial to her as she matured. Erica continued to practice until her junior year in high school. During her time studying martial arts she developed a deep love of the arts but a demanding school schedule kept her from continuing. She graduated from West Albany High School where she also competed in Cross Country and Track. In 2010, Erica earned a Bachelors degree in Accounting from Oregon State University where she now works. She was very focused on her studies while in college and was away from martial arts for a few years, but her love for the arts brought her back to Shin's Martial Arts Institute and she earned her 1st Dan black belt in December 2012.

Erica now enjoys competing in World Class Black belt sparring divisions in USA Taekwondo events as well as some local events.
